Why You Shouldn’t Do What I Did

By Mikkel Juhl On May 6, 2010 Under General

I started out in Denmark, it was quite big, to be honest. I got lots of views each day, I got a responsive audience built up in under 30 days. It was good. I kept improving.

I have been blogging about blogging in over 2 years. I am the kind of person who can concentrate on one thing in a long time, and I have done that. If I still thought that I could give you any knowledge I would. I am empty at the moment.

I know I probably are going to regret this, but I started out to harsh. I have blogged a lot lately (or not so lately.) I need a break. A big break.

I’m not done with blogging, far from.. I love blogging, blogging is what keeps me up, it’s dying funny, all the networking and stuff. It’s great.

I just don’t see the potential in this blog anymore, do you?

I really want to thank everyone who have supported me, in building this blog and the persons who have helped a lot in the good and the bad times.

These names include Jordan Cooper, Rob Rammuny (robsfriedchickentips.com (internal joke)), Derek Jensen, Chris Brogan (awesome tutor), Henrik Blunck, Nicholas Cardot, Tee Riddle, Joe Boyle(pikachu!), Keith Bloemendaal, Michael Stenger, Eren McKay(boots? what?), Andrew Kolyvas, Suzanne Vara.

And lots more. These person have helped me being where I am now, I am exceptionally happy for all the help you guys have done. I really wouldn’t be here without, your advice, your humor, your everything. Your support. Everything thank you!

I have had fun with you guess, and I still want to be in touch with all of you, even though I am not gonna be in the same niche as many of you are.. Though I will still be blogging. That’s the point. I will still be here.

I also want to blog about blogging. But just not on this blog, not on any specific blog. I will be blogging everywhere, just in a more minimal way.. You will eventually see my name pop-up here and there..

I doubt this decision of mine, but I still can feel that it is the right thing to do.

You have been a beautiful audience. Beautiful I tell you, really.. Thanks for all the love and support, I hope that I have helped all of you a lot, and that if you have anything to ask me about, then ask me. I will still be as friendly as I were before and I don’t bite.

I am ready to move on. I will still as I have stated before, be active. I will be more active in the comments area of all blogs, because I will have the energy. I want to connect with all of you.

The reasons isn’t you, it is a mixed thing between the time it takes to find new topics, to be unique in this niche, every marketing technique is already written about, and then there’s school. The stuff in school is getting serious now, I just got the best grade in a presentation. It was heavy work, definitely.

I want to thank everyone. Don’t make up a passion, it will not be worthwhile. Follow your heart.

So this will probably be my last DaneBlogger post. See you all soon. Somewhere else!

Are you serious? Oh no! I came here to read your blog and you’re saying you’re stopping?
Well I for one think you’re a great blogger and shouldn’t stop. Maybe a take a small break and then come back full force. We all go through phases. I love your candid honesty and I really want you to continue.
So those are my thoughts.
All the best,
Eren

@Eren Mckay, I see your point. What I will do, is that I’ll keep some of these posts, some of the best. And you will see me on other sites.

@Mikkel Juhl,

Same reaction as Eren, but I’m glad it’s not a final goodbye to the whole blogging world. It only means that you’re trying to move on, move a little higher and I support you with your decision. It must be a little difficult since people knew you from this blog, but I guess it’s just one of those changes that we always have to go through.

Thanks for your kind words. It has been fun to help and bring feedback. Sometimes, I have hesitated numerous times before hitting the “Submit comment” button, but I have always wanted to help. And you have become a tremendous blogger by listening. That deserves our great thanks for your willingness to listen and learn.

I fully understand your decision. But I hope you will let this blog continue to exist – for reference to all other wannabe-bloggers to get all the marvelous content that HAS been accumulated.

Furthermore, you can always change your mind later and shift your focus. People who have you in their RSS-feeds will see when you blog again here, and thus you gain the obvious advantage of having an available audience of people who like to read what you write.

Good luck in your endeavours. Keep your chin high, and stay well. :-)

@Henrik Blunck, I will. I think.

I will keep the domain at least, and as I might get back into this niche (though I doubt it), so it is possible for others to make references and learn from the already written content.

Keep in touch man maybe we can work on something together sometime :)

Good luck with your other blogging ( ? ).. I’m guessing your going to start guest posting? That’s an awesome idea. You can make your own website like mikkeljuhl.com.. and become a famous ‘guest blogger’ kind of thing :)

I really do like this blog and I must say that I’m said to see it go, however, I’m the same age as you so I understand that school work is a lot to handle, I’m only posting once a week because of it!

I look forward to seeing some of your posts on other sites in the future Mikkel!

I think you can shed your load by outsourcing or taking help from your close friends and also decrease the blogging frequency

Mikkel!

I know we have talked and I believe the blogs about blogging are what I would like to put as no more room. Why? Because its a lot of the same information. I know you offer some really great insights but as I said I would pick a strong focus on something that you are really passionate about. Who knows we might see a Daneblogger 2.0 :D

Take care and let me know if you want my advice or guidance on anything.

Now that some time has passed, you may have had some extra time to think things over…

I think I would recommend you use the EzineArticles article database a bit more. It gives fantastic backlinks, and could bring a lot extra visitors to your blog. If the issue is money-related, I think you could add lots of money to your bank account by considering Kontera and perhaps retrying the Adsense program.

As all commenters have said, you have lots to offer, and restructuring and sharpening your focus on all the many issues connected with blogging could be helpful to others.

What the heck. If you need a guest post on blogging in English (the second language), I might even do that. But I do hope you will consider the occasional blog post to keep all updated on what happens in your life.

Stay well, Mikkel. :-)
