Why Don’t You Ask Me Before You Rant?
I haven’t wrote one single blog post since we had the year change. 2010, that’s a lot.. I was born in 1995.. That’s a lot of years.. Anyway.. I am not going to write that much, I am a bit tired.. So, anyway.
Last night the 2th, I think it was like 03:14 am, this message was sent to me. Unfortunately I was sleeping, at that time.. So I woke up, hmm 01:13 pm, and I got that message.
It was from a person, a guy. Not naming any names. He wrote a long letter where he told me, that I really had to start writing, because he just thought that, it was like my duty. I had to write and if I didn’t he would start flaming.
I haven’t had the energy, these days. I wanted to relax, it is my holidays so. But to be honest, this email was freaking me out at bit. I think that writing on a blog, is something you should do when you are inspired and well these holidays haven’t inspired me that much and that is why I didn’t write anything at all this last days.
I think that you should only write something, if you have something to say.
And that is actually the point of this blog post, you should not post something, unless you have something to say.
I hope you all have some very nice holidays and, that you enjoy your own blog. Don’t blog because you think you’re forced to it, do it because you love to blog!

Don’t worry about it, Mikkel. If he was abusive, you probably shouldn’t have even justified his attack with a response.
Or throw it back right in his face… tell him instead of wasting his time crafting a long e-mail diatribe criticizing you, why doesn’t he spend it writing his own content?

Wow man, that’s crazy someone had a go at you and was threatening to flame you if you didn’t post some content.
You make a solid point that if you don’t have anything to say then don’t say it. Better to write great content less frequently then crap content constantly. We’re human, while they say that you should write consistently all the time there will be days when you don’t feel like writing and says when you’re not well or days when you’re on holidays, taking a break. I think a lot of people are kickin’ back a little this time of year.
Don’t let it get to you man.
All the best.

Wow Mikkel, I’m really sorry to hear that someone would accost you like that. The amazing thing to me is that anyone would care that much if you, or any blogger takes a day or two off. Is he too a blogger? I wouldn’t think so, or else he would understand that for most of us, sometimes you just need a little time to yourself to relax and unwind. Just know that the rest of us understand the effort you put into this and if you need some time…well, that’s just fine.
Happy (and successful) New Year,
Ray

You should kick ass by revealing whoever sent such an indecent message.
You’re right. Inspiring writing is always best. Glad you’re back.

I agree with you – only post when you want to/feel inspired. Blogging shouldn’t be a chore. (we’ve got enough of those!) Ignore that guy – he sounds like a jerk anyway. Your loyal readers will never get abusive over you not posting for a couple of days – everyone needs some time off! Hope you had/have a wonderful break and all the best for 2010.

That is crazy! I don’t understand people like that. At least in his email he should have been encouraging and checking up just to see if you were ok. There are much better ways than flaming people.

While I disagree with the way this person has approached you, he has a point in saying that ultimately it is a blogger’s responsibility to post regular material. Everybody has writer’s block from time to time, but it is something you need to combat if you want to become a successful blogger.

James – who’s to say it’s the writers responsibility? Unless the writer says he’s going to post every 2nd day or something like that then it should be up to the writer when he posts.
Sure – if you haven’t posted in a week and you’ve been posting 2-3 times a day beforehand people may start asking questions. But if people that send messages like that to Mikkel – are they really worth having as a reader anyway?
I think it’s important that the communication between the author of the blog and the readers is as strong as it can be. Posts like this is a great example as we now know that Mikkel has been in holiday mode and relaxing.

I’m not saying the person who contacted Mikkel is right, far from it, everybody needs a holiday. I was just pointing out that if a blog doesn’t supply fresh content within a timely manner then it is almost guaranteed to fail.
