How Not to Run a Business

By Mikkel Juhl On October 9, 2009 Under Build Your Blog

steps.jpgWhen I was at work, 3 hours from when I started I got this brilliant idea for a blog post. Well I had thought about writing this blog post, but I just realized how the blog post should be mixed together to give you a crispy taste.

The day before yesterday, I saw the television show “Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares” excellent show. Definitely great fun to watch.

When I was at work, I was about to throw out some old vanilla ice cream, I thought about Gordon Ramsay’s show. It was a Mexican restaurant, serving Mexican food (pretty odd, right? (; ). They had like food, that would be able to kill you.

  • It didn’t taste well
  • Everything was made (as they said) “Sunday last week”
  • Blood in the food containers – Raw food mixed with fried food
  • Cockroaches all over the place, on the plates etc.

This is definitely not how to run a business. Customers First – That’s probably the most important thing to remember, when you are dealing with both offline and online businesses (remember you should treat your blog like a business)

Be sure that your readers are enjoying your:

  • Content (how can you improve your content)
  • Web-design – some will close the tab, when they see a bad webdesign
  • Products. Be sure to satisfy your customers, if they don’t like your product, give them money back.

If you doesn’t treat your blog like it is a business, and don’t treat your business well, you will never be able to satisfy your readers. You have to care about your readers and do not treat them like pigs.

Task of The Day

Today I’m going to present a new thing here on DaneBlogger – Task of The Day, this will not be in every blog post, just something that may come in the blog post, if I think it will be helpful.

Today you need to think about how the readers are looking at your blog. Put a person in front of your computer, who have never seen your blog, and let them browse you blog.

What are they looking at, what are they skipping, what are they reading, do they take any actions when they are on the page?

This is just how a ready is reacting on your blog, is it friendly – spend some time to make it easier to navigate etc.

Spend some time on modifying your blog.

To the improvements of your blog!

Very good idea.

I’ve actually done this to some people I know, but I didn’t tell them that it was my blog. Pretty fun to see what people do on your blog. Good way to test your blog to see if it is received well by people and readers.

Yeah, it’s quite funny, actually.

I tried it with one of my classmates, quite funny.. And it is helpful, you can really use it (;

Nice post! You summarized the idea of Social Media quite well! If you keep your customers (or readers!) in mind and offer them what they want, you should end up on the bright sight!

Greetings to Denmark!
