What is Your Goal for 2010?

By Mikkel Juhl On December 8, 2009 Under Build Your Blog

This is an important subject I want you to think about. You might think it’s a bit early for this – but it isn’t! It’s the 8th December which means there is only 22 days to the new year is coming!

This also means that you’ve only got 22 days to choose one thing you have to improve when the new year begins. Every blogger should do this – it is so important for improvements on your blog.

For some this task is so easy, maybe because they have thought about what they have done wrong this year – or just recently. Others will find it quite hard, because they haven’t thought about it – you always have something you can improve – even if your name is Darren Rowse or Steve from the UK, really it doesn’t depends on whom you are, everybody can make improvements.

But if you have some problems to choose or just to find what you can improve – you just need to search deeper. I have done some pre-made things regular bloggers might wanna use.

  1. Post more often
  2. Guest post more often
  3. Do blog commenting more often
  4. Do forum posting
  5. Build more relationship
  6. Build stable relationship (focus on 10-20 people and build relationships from that)
  7. Raise 300% in traffic
  8. Raise search engine traffic by 200% (do much more SEO)

That’s some point for starters – nothing is wrong with taking two or three points – the more the better but, be sure to be able to finish them.

I think it is critical that you get this done. You need to have at least one new year continue for your blog by the end of 2009 – that’s 22 days from now!

To be honest, I hate setting goals but I understand theres always a need to. For this year I believve I have met majority of my goals, if not all of them and Im looking for the same next year as college finally ends.. :)

Well I believe it’s important – but of course, school first..

Anyway, if you have met your goals you should set some new goals.

To Fly to Mikkel’s home country

To hunt him down

To flatten his hair

And to beat him at soccer

To fly home

Dane,

Cool article! Should it be only one!? :D

My most important goal is to improve my frequency of publishing, I aim to publish one post (minimum) on daily basis.

Best,

Mikkel,

Earlier today I published a post for all my readers and supporters to read and the goals can be read here:

http://www.lifenotion.com/2009/12/2010-goals-for-lifenotion-and-the-community/

What is key about making goals for the next year is it pushes you to not only continue your blog, but it pushes you to do the best you can.

Best Regards,
Derek

It’s funny how we get like this at the end of the year. I guess it’s natural, a new year starts so we feel the need to try and improve the next year than the year before.

I’ve often thought about starting my ‘new year’ a month or 2 before. like end MY year in October then when November comes around that’s the fresh start.

Chris Brogan left a video on his blog last week saying that December is the time where most businesses die off, they’re preparing for holidays, it’s slow season. But this is a perfect opportunity to bust a gut and do your best when everyone else is in holiday mode.

Anyway – 2010 is a HUGE year for me. I’ve quit work in order to make a success online and life the lifestyle I desire. Next year will really set the path for many years to come. I will have to work hard and need major discipline to make this work. I believe I can, I want this more than anything.

I have many side goals and sites I want to create and things I want to learn, but the main goal for me is to make a livable income online by the end of 2010 at the latest.

I believe setting goals is important, so I fully agree with you.

One thing people should also consider is that they often limit their potential. They feel as though the should subject themselves to certain limitations rather than realizing that the sky’s the limit. You hardly ever outperform your goals in any major way, so setting your goal too low can inhibit the kind of growth you COULD have obtained.

My best idea is therefore to allow yourself to bloom by the goals you set. Reaching higher involves AIMING higher… :-)

I’ve set a goal to have a great blog. I came here via Jason Dinner’s critique. He mentioned your sign up area as needing some work, which may be true. However, regardless of what you do there your pop up accomplishes much more than your sign up area, imho. Maybe your figures show otherwise, but my thoughts are you can’t avoid the pop up and you can scroll past your form. What do you think?
