My Change to The iMac

By Mikkel Juhl On January 12, 2010 Under General

Yesterday, I was eating dinner, with my family and we talked about when the iMac would get to the house. We knew it would come today and we guessed.

My father: 1-2 hours.

My sister: 3 hours.

Me: 1 minute (mostly meant as a joke)

Then one second after I said that, we heard something… *Knock* *Knock*

I got out to the door and opened. And there, it was… my new iMac.

I opened it fast, cleaned my desk, (got rid of the previous computer I had).. Actually in that order, anyway. I got the iMac, I love it. It’s nice and so on.

<- This is a photo of my iMac – Clean. It’s the 27″ version. With 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo, enough technical details for now.. It’s amazing to work on, can you imagine how productive you actually can be?

I know it takes time to get used to this new keyboard, and then when it isn’t numeric, I really was used to that, anyway I have to live with that ;)

But still, very productive, to be honest..

And yup, it can start-up. Mac OSX – takes like 2 hours (at least for me) to get used to the user interface.. Or maybe more, of course I am still using some of the known Windows shortcuts on the keyboard. Very frustrating when stuff like that doesn’t work..

Anyway, I can recommend Macs.

Mac OSX kicks Window’s butt!

Yeah, it’s nice.. Also because you really can do much more at once…

With my old computer, I couldn’t watch a liveshow why I was doing something else, I can now..

Really, worth it.

I’ve been using a Mac for the last 4 years almost (first one on my 18th birthday) and it was a great decision. I still use a Windows computer as well mind you, I like having two computers for some reason.

With regard to the shortcuts, a lot of them are similar. You can mostly just substitute CTRL for the Command button on the Apple keyboard.

Yeah, but the command button is located another place.. That’s the thing..

So when I’m hitting ctrl+copy nothing happens.. And then I look at the keyboard, and watch the cmd key ;)

But well, probably going to go smooth, in some time ;)

Didn’t we tell you that Macs are nice? ;-)

But certainly glad you enjoy it. There are lots of wonderful utilities, and I hope you find my blog on the Mac useful for getting to know your machine.

Congrats, and enjoy. :-)

Wow, I’m jealous now. I have been looking around at them, but they are just way to expensive here in South Africa. I think we would pay around $3000-$4000 dollars for one like you, maybe a bit less if I had a contact somewhere.

A friend asked me one day to help them and they had a Mac, I had a hectic time trying to find my way around and do things. I can say that I’m a bit better now.

Enjoty and good luck, hope to see more from you.

Mikkel,

Its nice to see you upgrade to a Mac. Ever since I did about 2 years ago I was asking myself, “why the heck did I keep using a PC?!”. My productivity really went up just because of the Mac OS features and functionality.

I currently have a MacBook Pro and I am wanting to get an iMac too. They are so sleek and shall I say… sexy. Haha well have fun with it man.

Looks awesome. I have the 24″ iMac, I’ve used it for a while. Now, my wife is using it.

A week ago I bought the 17″ MacBook Pro :-)

I always wanted to learn how to use a MAC, but I failed along the way. Life is not over yet. I will have to start saving money, because I really want one.
